Frequently asked questions
What is chaat?
Chaat is a family of Indian and Pakistani street snacks built on contrasts: crunchy, soft, sweet, sour, spicy and salty, all on one plate.
Can I use store-bought samosas?
Yes. Any crisp samosas work; bake or air-fry them fresh so they are crunchy when crushed.
How do I make tamarind chutney quickly?
Simmer 60 g tamarind paste with 2 tablespoons jaggery or sugar, a pinch of cumin and salt for 5 minutes, then cool.
Is samosa chaat vegetarian?
With vegetable samosas and plain yoghurt it is vegetarian. Use plant-based yoghurt for a vegan version.
