Pro tips

Frequently asked questions

What is jalebi made of?

Jalebi is made from a fermented or leavened flour batter, piped into spirals, deep-fried and soaked in saffron sugar syrup.

Can I make jalebi without a piping bag?

Yes. A squeeze bottle, a plastic bag with a snipped corner, or even a clean sauce bottle all work well.

Why are my jalebi soft instead of crispy?

The oil may have been too cool, or the jalebi were soaked too long. Fry until deeply golden and soak for just 1 to 2 minutes.

How long do jalebi keep?

They are best eaten the same day. Store leftovers at room temperature for up to 24 hours.
